First, you must Sign up for a PayPal Premier or Business account with PayPal Pro, PayPal Premium, and/or PayPal Express. Once PayPal your account is created or if you already have an account, follow the steps below to complete the PayPal API Integration.
Steps for Retrieving PayPal API Credentials

- Log in to your PayPal Business account.
- Hover over your name in the top right and Click Account Settings.
- Click the Profile tab. If you haven't already done so, and verify your account before
requesting API credentials. - Go to Account Access under Account & Security and click Update.
- Under Custom checkout experience go to NVP/SOAP API integration (Classic) and select Manage API Credentials.
Note: At this step you will receive a text message from PayPal for the 2-Factor Authentication.

https://www.paypal.com/businessprofile/mytools/apiaccess/firstparty - Save the 3 values for API Username, API Password, and API signature into a secure location.
- Now, login to your Pulse Commerce Admin Panel and Navigate to Site Settings > Pay Methods > Other Real-Time Payment Options, Enable the PayPal Express option and then click Edit.

Enter the API_Username:API_Password:API_Signature received from PayPal in the Merchant ID text box and click the Update button. Separate each by a colon (:).
Syntax: “APIUsername:APIPassword:APISignature” (No quotes)

Ensure your PayPal Express Payment option contains the correct API username, password, and signature values.
Note: If PayPal Express is enabled on your site, you should NOT enable PayPal Standard. - If you are accepting payment in a currency other than USD, please notify support@pulse-commerce.com
- Place a test order on your site as if you were a customer to confirm that the PayPal integration is working correctly.
- Log in to your PayPal Business account.
