TrustedSite (formerly McAfee SECURE / HackerSafe) is a modern trustmark and website security scanning service designed to increase shopper confidence and reduce security risks for ecommerce merchants. TrustedSite performs ongoing vulnerability scans, safety checks, and trust validations so customers can shop with confidence.

Note: McAfee SECURE and HackerSafe have been consolidated under the TrustedSite brand. Existing merchants who previously used McAfee/HackerSafe now manage their trustmark through TrustedSite.

TrustedSite helps build customer confidence by validating:

  • Daily security scanning for common vulnerabilities
  • Malware and phishing checks
  • PCI compliance support (via ASV scanning partners)
  • Verified business identity and site legitimacy assertions
  • Trustmarks you can display throughout your storefront

These trustmarks reassure customers that your site is monitored, safe, and secureā€”which can help improve conversion rates and reduce cart abandonment.

What changes on your storefront: Once you add the badge code, shoppers typically see a trust seal/badge and (depending on your TrustedSite plan) may be able to click through to a verification or certification page hosted by TrustedSite.

To create a TrustedSite account and begin security scanning, sign up at:

During signup, you will be able to:

  • Verify your domain
  • Configure your security scanning frequency
  • Enable trustmark badges
  • Activate PCI compliance scanning (if applicable)
Important: TrustedSite account setup, plan selection, pricing, and scanning configuration are managed directly with TrustedSite. Pulse Commerce Support cannot modify your TrustedSite subscription.

After signing up, TrustedSite will provide an HTML snippet for displaying your security seal. You can add this snippet to Pulse Commerce using the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Content > Logo and Custom Header Editor.
  2. Click the View/Edit Source tab.
  3. Paste the TrustedSite script or HTML badge code into the Top of Page or Bottom of Page editor, based on the placement instructions provided by TrustedSite.
  4. Click Apply and then Update to save your changes.
Verification tip: After saving, open your storefront in a private/incognito window and confirm the badge loads on the intended pages. If you do not see it immediately, clear cache or test in another browser.
Script placement warning: Only paste scripts provided by TrustedSite (or a vendor you trust). Third-party scripts run in the customerā€™s browser and can impact site performance or conflict with other scripts.

TrustedSite is not a PCI compliance provider by itself, but it integrates with Approved Scanning Vendors (ASVs) to assist with PCI DSS scanning requirements. Your acquiring bank or merchant processor may also require:

  • Quarterly external vulnerability scans
  • Annual Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ)
  • Remediation verification for identified vulnerabilities

Practical guidance: PCI requirements and reporting obligations vary by merchant category and processor. Always follow the instructions provided by your acquiring bank/processor for compliance.
