Pulse Commerce provides a built-in Social Media module that allows you to display Facebook Like and Facebook Share buttons on every product detail page. When enabled, customers can quickly share your products on their Facebook feed or “Like” them directly from your storefront.
Note: The Social Media module controls all available social icons. Individual networks cannot be enabled or disabled separately.
- Go to Marketing > Social Media in the Pulse Commerce Admin Panel.
- Choose either Format 1 or Format 2 to select how the social icons will appear on your product pages.
- Click Update to save and activate the module.
Once enabled: Facebook Like and Share buttons will automatically appear on all Product Detail Pages (PDPs). Customers can instantly share the product link to their Facebook feed.
Verification tip: After clicking Update, open a product page in a private/incognito browser window to confirm the icons display (this avoids cached content).
When activated, the module:
- Adds Facebook Like and Facebook Share buttons on every PDP
- Adds other supported social icons (depending on Format 1/Format 2)
- Allows customers to share product links with a single click
- Helps increase product exposure via customer networks
The displayed icons are determined by the predefined layout formats. Facebook is always included when the module is enabled.
Operational note: Because this is a global module, any change applies to all product detail pages—there is no per-product enable/disable setting.
If you no longer wish to display any social icons:
- Go to Marketing > Social Media.
- Select Do Not Display.
- Click Update.
Result: Disabling the module removes all social icons from product pages (not just Facebook).
Important: The Social Media module does not allow enabling or disabling individual networks (e.g., Facebook only, or Share only).
- Enabling the module shows all available social icons.
- Disabling it removes all icons.
- Selective display requires manual HTML embedded in the Product Long Description.
If you need only the Facebook buttons or want custom social sharing behavior, you may manually embed Facebook’s official code from:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/
Supportability warning: If you embed custom social code manually, validate it after theme changes or platform updates and ensure it does not interfere with page performance or checkout behavior.
Below is an example of how the Like and Share buttons will appear on product pages:
