Creating Packaging & Shipping Supplies in Cahoot

Create packaging entries in Cahoot for label creation.

Cahoot supports three types of Packaging:

  • Boxes - Rectangular shipping containers
  • Mailers - Flexible packaging (bubble mailers, poly mailers)
  • Supplies (optional) - Additional materials you add inside mailers or boxes (void fill, paper, inserts, etc.)

Step 1: Access Packaging Manager

1Login to your Cahoot account and go to Settings > Packaging Manager tab.

Step 2: Create New Packaging Entry

2Click Add New.

Step 3: Configure Basic Information

3Select the Packaging Type (Box, Mailer, or Supplies)

4Enter the required information:

Required Fields:

  • Name: Descriptive name for the packaging
  • Packaging SKU: Unique identifier for this packaging
  • Dimensions: Length, Width, Height (in inches)
Important for Mailers: Mailer packages have variable dimensions since they can expand, fold, or be compressed depending on contents, making pre-configured dimensions unreliable.

Step 4: Save Your Entry

5Click Save to create the packaging entry.

6Next Steps by User Type:

Important for Automation: Enable the [Use for MLMQ Automation] setting if you want Cahoot to consider this box for Multi-line/Multi-quantity automation. Make sure to add packaging quantity (steps below) if your using this box for automation.

 

Important: The Packaging entries you configure will appear on the create label page in Cahoot under the Package Type drop down. The dimensions you configure for these packaging entries will be used to create the label.   


 

 

Adding Initial Quantities

1Log into your Cahoot account.

2Go to Inventory > Add Packaging Inventory.

3Select "Packaging Receipt" transaction type, then click Add New Packaging to search through your packaging entries.

4Update the "Adjust Qty By" values for each packaging type.

Note: Adjustments can be positive or negative, but cannot go below 0.
